Welcome to Post Office Rant!
Have you ever wanted to tug on a friend's ear to complain about yet another incompetent action inflicted upon you by the Post Office because you knew from past experience that contacting the manager would not only be an exercise in futility but would probably just add insult to injury?
But you don't unload on your friends because you realize they don't want to hear it. (Who does?)
It'd be nice to just blow it off and learn from the experience. But you just gotta tell someone, don't you!
Well, here's your chance to "rant." Maybe it'll do you good. Who knows, perhaps your post will help others whose plight has been akin to yours.
Yeah, I realize it'd be wishful thinking to hope that someone in government might take notice of all such rants and use them as ammo (no pun intended) to un-stupify the postal system but one must remember that we're dealing with a bureaucratic system bound by red tape and populated by folks who probably barely passed a civil service exam to get their "protected for life" job.
This is not to say that all postal employees are incompetent. Many are true gems. But why is there such a disproportionate ratio of incompetent to competent "public servants" in the postal system?
Perhaps the answer lies in the study by Justin Kruger and David Dunning of the Department of Psychology Cornell University, "Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments."
Or maybe it's the Peter Principle as explained in the best selling book "The Peter Principle" by Dr. Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull.
At any rate, here's your opportunity to rant. Get it off your chest but please keep it clean.
